The Safer Foundation

DAVENPORT - Quad Cities Suzuki will give $100 for each car sold during the month of May to the Safer Foundation, an organization that provides services aimed at eliminating barriers to education and employment for individuals who have been incarcerated or involved in the criminal justice system. The Safer Foundation will use the donation to support its Youth Empowerment Programs (YEP) in Davenport and Rock Island.

Quad Cities Suzuki CEO John Palmer will present a check to Susan Davison, Program Manager of the Safer Foundation, Tuesday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Safer Foundation, 904 West Sixth Street in Davenport (formerly the John Lewis House). Youth Empowerment Program staff and students will be available to talk about the program following the check presentation.

The Safer Foundation’s Youth Empowerment Programs are designed for students between the age of 16 and 21 who have struggled in the traditional school setting and are now working to obtain their GED and secure employment. Approximately 65 students earn their GEDs each year through the programs.

“May is graduation time and we are pleased to offer this month’s donation to an organization that does so much to help young people complete their education,” Mr. Palmer said.

The donation is part of a charitable giving program that Quad Cities Suzuki developed to support local community organizations. Each month the dealership contributes a portion of new and used vehicle sales to a selected charity. Employees receive information about the activities and mission of the charity, which they are instructed to pass on to customers. The recipient of Quad Cities Suzuki’s April donation was Family Resources, Inc.

“We are thrilled to have been selected to receive such a generous financial donation from John Palmer and Quad Cities Suzuki,” said Ms. Davison.  “In addition to benefiting financially, hundreds of people will hear about the Safer Foundation and be made aware of our mission and those who benefit from the services we offer.”

“Working with a different charity each month gives us the opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way,” Mr. Palmer said. “We hope that this program helps raise awareness of the excellent work that these organizations are doing in the Quad Cities.”
